This is not a Hallmark. I repeat, this is NOT a Hallmark. On the contrary, Discovery+ seems to thing they can just waltz in here and throw up a Hail Mary and break into the genre. IMDB gave this film a 5.8/10 which I think is generous. I give it a 4.8/10.
It’s not bad. But it’s not good. It is just stale and boring. And the plot is so cliche, unlike all the other Hallmark movie plot twists and variations!
So, what’s the story? Well, ex-football player turned sports TV journalist Jordan Davies (played by Devale Ellis of Vish Merrick, Single Black Female, and Makeup X Breakup fame) finds himself in a scandal! Oh no! His career is going down like Aunt Edna’s fruitcake. Not only is he accused of taking money from a booster in college, but he also is 1/2 engaged to a diva. Gasp! What will he do?
Well, the network brings in a spin master *cough *cough crisis management expert who just happens to be Jordan’s ex-girlfriend from college (Nicole, played by Eva Marcille). Who could have seen that coming. And, without spoiling too much more, will love reunite, or will time apart have no effect on Jordan and Nicole.
With puppy dog eyes and everything going wrong for him, Jordan seeks to triumph over rumors like Reggie Bush never could. Where was Nicole for Reggie? Huh? Where was she? Where was his crisis manager back then? Or, mind blown, is this really about Reggie Bush with names changed to protect the guilty, or innocent, or whatever?
Skip this one folks, there are better ones out there. Like, take your pick of any of them. And Discovery+, stay in your freaking lane!
